Assumendo a riferimento l’articolazione argomentativa dell’incompiuta Apologie, di cui rimangono le Pensées, è possibile riconoscere che l’antropologia pascaliana si sviluppa dapprima lungo un asse fenomenologico, che viene a delinearsi nelle tensioni delle contrariétés di misère e grandeur tra le quali l’uomo appare profondamente lacerato, e quello propriamente ontologico-metafisico, che prende forma nella seconda parte nella teoria dei trois ordres, dei tre ordini, o livelli della realtà – corps, esprit e charité –, riconoscibili a partire dall’esperienza umana nel suo rapporto con la realtà stessa nella sua multidimensionalità, e perciò corrispondenti alle tre polarità o componenti antropologiche di corpo, spirito e anima. Il tutto converge infine ed è portato a sintesi nella strutturale costituzione relazionale della persona, per cui la ricentratura moderna del soggetto viene bilanciata dal suo decentramento che lo proietta nella relazione intersoggettiva.

Taking as reference the argumentative articulation of the unfinished Apologie, of which the Pensées survives, it is possible to recognise that Pascal’s anthropology first develops along a phenomenological axis, which is delineated in the contrariétés tensions of misère and grandeur between which man appears profoundly lacerated, and the properly ontological-metaphysical axis, taking shape in the second part in the theory of the trois ordres, of the three orders, or levels of reality – corps, esprit and charité -, recognisable starting from human experience in its relationship with reality itself in its multidimensionality, and therefore corresponding to the three polarities or anthropological components of body, spirit and soul. Everything finally converges and is carried to synthesis in the structural relational constitution of the person, whereby the modern re-centring of the subject is balanced by its decentring projecting it into the intersubjective relationship.
